SAP Joule is SAP's generative AI copilot, embedded across S/4HANA Cloud, SuccessFactors, Ariba, SAP Fieldglass, and the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Launched in late 2023 and expanded aggressively in 2025–2026 through partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, AWS, and IBM, Joule now ships with over 100 AI use cases and autonomous agents. Joule is included at no additional license cost with eligible cloud SAP products.
Joule is SAP's natural-language interface to your ERP, HCM, and procurement data. It answers questions in plain English ("Show me open POs over 90 days from suppliers in Germany"), generates content (job descriptions, RFPs), and automates multi-step tasks. Joule Agents are autonomous agents that coordinate across SAP apps — a Financial Consolidation Agent can close books by reconciling across S/4HANA instances.
